A2 media question 2

How effective is your combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

when creating my ancillary texts ( which you can find in the youtube video above ) I tried to link as much as possible to a thriller aspect. My ancillary texts were a poster and radio advert.

as you can see here to the right, the first picture is the unedited picture of me on a footpath. the picture below that is the edited picture. I edited this picture on 'Pixlr'. Pixlr is basically a free online photoshop. This edit took me around 4 days to complete as i wanted the edit to be perfect, as I am very happy with it.

There are many reasons why I created the poster to look like the way I have created it. the first reason is that the killer is directly central and is almost in a silhouette with glaring light behind him. I think this poster is perfect because it goes into detail about how the main character is purely imaging the killer while he ultimately turns into the killer. The white light is a symbol of his imagination, as the killer stands in the light showing that he is part of his imagination. I have called the named delusion because by the near end of the film the audience will realise that the main character has just been delusional about the the killer the whole way though the film.

For the radio advert, I took a little bit of the music that i used for my actual final product and used it as a backing track for my radio advert. Then i used segments of the film where there would be speaking. I put it together in order to create a creeper eerie radio advert. I showed this advert to friends and family to get there first reaction. They were all very drawn into my radio advert pointing out that parts they enjoyed the most were the knife sound and the description of the killer.

The combination of my ancillary texts ( poster and radio advert ) were extremely effective. I can tell this from the audience research that i conducted on my friends and family. Therefor, I am extremely happy with the work that i have done with the poster and radio advert.
